Lady in Dress Embroidered Handmade Brooch 1940s #07
The most precious collection of brooches we've ever come across! This particular brooch features a naively stitched woman dressed in a dramatic crinoline, embroidered onto a natural off-white fabric. The brooch is set in a circular rope-effect silver-coloured metal frame, with a plastic transparent film protecting the creation. 5cm in height. C-type clasp with rotating closure to secure.
In good condition, scuffs and scratches to the metal as expected of a brooch this age.

Embroidered and hand-made brooches were popularised during the 'make-do-and-mend' years of world war two and they remained popular throughout the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. You could also buy kits with threads, pre-printed designs on fabric and the necessary mounts to complete your piece of jewellery.
